We all know those days…it’s the first day of school, it’s your annual trip to the Beach or it’s just a regular old day in the backyard and ALL you want is ONE cute picture where everyone is smiling and nobody is trying to kill each other…

Between myself and Kathleen (my right hand and Lead Photographer at Silver Orchid), we have 7 kids ranging from 8 to 18. We are both professional photographers and pro Moms – yet this (see evidence above ⬆️ ) is still how it goes when we try to photograph our own kids.

It doesn’t matter if we are trying to grab a quick cute photo with our phone, or if we pull out the big camera and try set up a nice portrait…there will always be one that’s not having it, a sibling squabble, or silly faces. “Photographers Kid Syndrome” is real and our crews are no exception!

Let’s be real – dressing them up, dressing yourself (and your husband), sweating, bribing, getting frustrated, begging for everyone to smile…it’s a serious struggle.

Instead of fighting the fight with my own kids, I’ve learned my lesson. Just put them in front of the camera with a professional other than me and the photos will be a million times better and a heck of a lot less stressful.
