Every now and then as a creative you have to step outside your box and do something that scares you a little. How will you ever keep your creative mind sharp? A girls night discussion over “wishes” gave me the inspiration to do just that. We shared a dinner, some wine, a list of wishes. One girlfriend, in particular, wished for a vintage inspired pin-up shoot. I have to say, my past experience photographing women was telling me I’m not a fan. Women are critical and hard on themselves and rarely love being photographed. BUT, I’m never one to shy away from a challenge. So thanks to an amazing group of beautiful women (and one model worthy 6-year-old:), Hairdaze Salon, and the styled expertise of Andy (who knows all things pin-up because she basically dresses like this every day), we were able to grant a wish and give me an afternoon of creative fun!
This shoot more than made me LOVE to photograph women…it made me want to empower more women to feel this good about themselves. I can’t tell you how many of these ladies said oh man Tara, it must be your camera. I am here to tell you this is not just great lighting, a good camera, and photoshop…this is all you ladies! I will now be offering pin-up/ boudoir styled “parties”. Get a group of girls together, get your hair and makeup up done and have a great time getting some amazing photographs of every bit of your womanly gorgeousness! Contact me for details!
